[glow=red,2,300]Classic .45’s Find Their Way Out of the Closet[/glow]
Single stack .45 caliber pistols of various makes are once again the equipment of choice for practical shooters all over the country. At least for the upcomng “Mamang Pulis Single Stack Classic” Invitational Practical Shooting Competition to be held at the Camp Crame Firing Range from August 1 - 3, 2008.
The Single Stack Classic Practical Shooting Competition is the brainchild of Chief PNP Avelino Razon, Jr. This competition took several years to materialize; dating back to the days when the PNP Chief was a newly confirmed police general. This competition shall effectively resurrect the Golden Age of practical shooting when these classic weapons flourished in every competition venue from Fort Bonifacio to the old firing ranges in Bacolod City.
The Single Stack Classic shall be made up of 5 competition stages; with the first one being the “Basic” stage where competitors would need to score at least 60 points in order to advance and be allowed to shoot the succeeding stages.
Once considered to be obsolete when it comes to handguns since the inception of high-capacity pistol models, the M1911 pistol originally conceptualized and patented by the Colt Firearms Company in 1911 is considered to be one of the most durable and dependable firearms ever invented. Attesting to this is the fact that the basic design had, with very minor alterations, not changed in almost 100 years.
Originally available only in .45 caliber models, the M1911 Single Stack pistol is now made in various bore sizes such as .40 S&W, .38 Super, 9mm, and 10mm.
